I think someone needs to show me how to do this properly before I attempt it on my own again....lol

It really is that simple. Take the tension off of the spring in your pedals (there is a small socket screw at the back of the pedal with a plus and a minus sign. Turn it towards the minus as far as it will go without forcing it). Once the tension is at it;'s weakest, engaging and disengaging is a lot easier. To engage, toe first and then push down. To disengage just twist and lift. In that order not together. To disengage you need to plan ahead. Unclip before you get to where you are planning on stopping and remember to lean towards the direction of the foot that you just unclipped....

when clipping in or out do it with your pedal in the 6 o'clock position. aka pointing towards the ground. This way you can put a bit of weight on it to stabilise things. clipping in is a straight forward motion, feel for the pedal and push down and forward until you hear the click.

when unclipping, again rotate the pedal towards the ground, add a bit of weight to keep it in place and then and twist your heel sideways (not up or down, just towards the side) until the pedal disengages. if you feel you have to twist too much then adjust the tensioner to loosen the pedal.

It helps a lot if your shoes and pedals allow you to still pedal fairly easily while clipped out. That way you can unclip and continue pedalling if you feel unsafe or nervous.

Like other have said, unclip both feet BEFORE you stop moving. then you want have any embarrassing slow motion falls :)

Where in gauteng are you?

i live in honeydew, but do the spinning classes during my lunch time at the Sandton VA....
