Beware of loctite, it is stuff made for people who can't assemble stuff properly or for use on stuff that wasn't designed properly in the fist place...

Loctite is designed for people who do not want to do regular bike maintenance but bitch when something go's wrong.

Assemble to original manufactures specification (without loctite) and it will not come loose.

**** happens. My brand new XT cranks came loose after the shop torqued everything correctly. They had to put some thread lock in there to keep them on.

Why?

If you get it wrong or under certain conditions it works too well and it is nearly impossible to get the bolt out. Especially bad if it gets old and hard- then it works more like glue. It is also very dependant on how much you put on and most people put waaaay too much and the bold won't leave the hole again, except on the end of a drill...

Can any body tell me if this is normal. while riding on Sunday, doing about 30km per hour in head wind my whole crank-arm comes off and i had to get someone to pick me up. So is this something that happens or was it the mechanic that put the groupset on about 3 months ago. Thanks.

..maybe you pedal to hard...

I would love it if that were the case but its not lol. think the mechanic did a nonsense job, because last night when i took another look one of the allen key bolt was broken off on the inside so westdene cycles is going to have to get the bolt out there somehow :cursing:
