F@3k all here is important except:

1) Camelbak = more storage + hydration. Hotter on the back, but not unbearable, more costly.

2) Saddlebag = smaller storage, carried on bike, cheaper.

Now decide which fits you and run along and purchase it.

Problem with a saddle bag is you can't carry water in it.

It does not matter to me as I have nothing to prove by comparing mine to yours...

Just go and buy a farking saddle bag for goodness sake. If you dont want to fork out for a camelbak, DONT!!!

If you want to carry 9 bottles of water with you, DO IT!!!!!

Just stop this stupid thread.

It is clear you want a saddle bag. So go to sportsmans tomorrow am and buy the damn thing!!!

Yes I agree on this one. If this is what it takes to buy a stupid saddle bag of (at the most) a few hundred rands, I am so glad he was not here when he was in the process of buying his bike.

I'll have you know that my saddle bag cost R 45 and contains about R 80 worth of equipment

As soon as I started getting mud splattered all over my water bottle in my first summer season of riding mtb I decided to get a Camelbak. That means I wouldn't have dog crap smeared over my mouth whenever I needed a sip of water. That also meant I could ditch the noob accessory saddle bag as I had space for plenty of tools.

PS. The Camelbak has also literally saved my butt in some crashes. :P

This is a reasonable argument....I have also encountered the mud-on-bottle situation. I got a Maxed hydration thingy from Mr Price Sport for R 199, and bought a Camelbak bite valve  (the Maxed valve is super crappy  )

I will keep the saddle bag...hate rummaging for spares and crap before a ride

Oh, I have a free saddle bag to give away. It is old but still like new. Found it during a recent clean up of the bike room.

How much does it weigh?
