  1. My attempt at woodwork. Funny enough I cannot make a shelf or cabinet to save my life. Started with this, wenge and maple
  2. Thanks to all posters, you answered a few questions for me too.
  3. Here in Jeffreysbay there are both types running around. I hate the 80cc one that comes past my shop, it sounds like a leaf blower, and those need to be banned to the pit of hell. There are also the 1000w fat bikes floating around, which the guys proudly boast can climb dunes. They will soon be banned the same as motorbikes and 4x4's on the beach because they cause the same damage to the ecology. I was looking at the 250w Raleigh volt, as I would need something to help me along when my age catches up, but the spec level is terrible. I also found that most of them have terrible groupsets etc. Fot those that are interested though, the hub drive should be the bike of choice, as the mid mount is very hard on the hubs with all that torque The 1000w Bafang is claimed to have 125nm of torque, my 200cc commuter bike has 13nm of torque, just to give you an idea.
  4. They say carrots are good for your eyes, but in my experience alcohol doubles your vision...
  5. That widens the possibilities for my commuter, and 29er rims are wider in any case. I would need to use v-brakes though. This topic has definitely helped me.
  6. What would the minimum allowable rim width be for the 700 x 35c slicks. I am busy planning a commuter. And then a possibly very stupid question.....Can 29er rims work on a road bike frame?
  7. Perhaps you should go for an ear test to see what frequencies are dominant. If you have great low end hearing then Sennheiser might be wrong for you, as they are rather bass heavy, whereas Shure is quite a bit brighter. Bose is brilliant quality, so is Sony, but make sure that your hearing matches your purchase, which might not be the most expensive you can afford.
  8. I sincerely hope they get a different commentator though. I just tuned in to check and the dude is on his soapbox pushing ideas instead of actually commentating. Bitching about riders throwing bottles and such. If he is still there I need to work on an stage appropriate playlist for each day of the tour.
  9. My logic always thought that the snotty stuff will seal better....but I stand corrected.
  10. I used the normal Schrader tube. The trick is to use a thin sealant, not the thick snotty stuff. The snotty stuff failed as it did not seal on the bead (too thick to get there) The runny sealant will get to the bead and seal it, as mine did. Topped up air three days after the conversion, and it is still holding, six weeks later.
  11. I just used a 20" tube, comes with the valve handy , 29ers use a 24" tube.
  12. Yes...it is gaffer tape. Not quite like duct tape. The duct tape we get here is very plasticky and has poor glue. Gaffer stick like sh*t to anything, that stuff is bad. Nothing like making a ball from the tape used at a gig and then playing soccer after packing up...
  13. And dumbasses.... I wonder how many moronic threads arguing the same we are going to have..... Or threads bitching anonymously about some other cyclist behaving in a way we don't like....
  14. Just as info for all you coathangers....cube will have some demo bikes at Rietvlei farm tomorrow morning (12th January) https://www.facebook.com/pages/CUBE-Bikes-South-Africa/198745129866?ref=stream
  15. Are you in PE...apparently there are six....uh five like those running around filming guys kipping traffic lights, stops and generally driving like poena....last week one was taken out by a driver skipping a red light afaik
  16. Some need to be "enlightened" repeatedly, and some personally....hence the abundance of idiots fighting over the same crap
  17. I Komatipoort nine years ago, and even then Valencia was turning into a massive complex. They started by selling textiles, but when we left they had started the outdoor shop.....me and my dad would go there whilst my mom went material shopping....win win
  18. Ok, now that I am back from weeping softly in the garden , let me add......ah screw that
  19. Silverback is a good make, but have a look through the classifieds on this forum, you might find something better at the same money.
