Small kid - small wheels. Don't go 26 too soon. They can learn all kinds of stuff on the 20 and 24' bikes. Much easier to jump, whip and go flat with a small wheel initially.

We went 20 (diamong back) 24 (merida) and 26 (voltage). He has now got himself a bmx again to learn some new stuff.

So yes economically best to probably go xs 26, but then they might miss out on some serious fun!

Yip kids want to play on their bikes, not learn to ride marathons (They are not good at doing death marches!)

MIne went 16" (with, and then without training wheels) then 20" then 24"

KIds bikes are really heavy, but such it is...

I weighed a 20 inch Avalanche at my lbs, 11.9kg, Momsen 8.9kg, definitely going the Momsen route even at the higher price

Saw an awesome Pyga bike in the latest Bicycling that Patrick Morewood has made for his kid, unfortunately it's a one off custom, would have been very cool.

That was one WICKED cool bicycle...

Maybe we can convince Pat to extend that line a bit? I would pay a premium for one of those.
