oh, and unfitness freak, the cheapest option are the giant hooks. about R20. they work a charm if you've got good plaster.

Yes these are great - around R900 - R1300 depending on where you shop.  Don't be too fooled though. You still need a bit of space to manouvre around them when loading and unloading.  Perhaps better suited for display purposes than "frequent use"

If you hang an MTB up by it's front wheel you invert the shocks so th oil runs to the top. Then you have to let it stand for 20 - 30 min before riding it, for the oil to migrare down to the bottom again. So i would hang it by the back wheel, the oil will stay at the bottom of the shock.

 

I hang my road bike by the front wheel, never had a problem.

I use the hooks...Works well...Interesting info from Madmarc on the shocks...Will have to take my daughter's bike off the hook earlier before she goes out...

I got hooks from Sportsman's Warehouse. MTBikes that don't get much use hang by the back wheels. Gives me more space in the bike room.
