Easton are low on stock. They only have the EA70 or EA90SLX (2009) but for R2000 more.

I would steer clear of EA90SLX - mine are light and fast, but in 2,000kms I've had one broken spoke and now my rear hub is loose and wheel wobbling which I need to take in and get fixed. Personal experience of course, but that model doesn't count as bomb proof to me.

EA90sl Eastons !

done about 9000km on my current set and they have never needed to be trued or a serviced yet , still run like clockwork !

Been riding EA70 for about 2 years now and have only had to replace 1 spoke which snapped in the middle, LBS said he's rarely seen a spoke break there.

You are not considering his budget with your choice of wheelset !!

It was just a joke, even though they are insanely light.

But what about the DA 7900 CL? or the Mavic Ksyriums?

Thanks for the feedback. Decided on the EA70 to use as my race wheel and my Ksyriums Elite (3000km on more or less) as training wheels depends on how the Eastons perform this weekend.

2nd broken spoke on my Easton EA90 SLX in 8 mths and around than 2,000 km of riding. Front spoke this time, last time it was a back spoke. Left me stranded at Rooi Els and missing the last 30km of a glorious day for riding. Not a happy camper. Last week the rear hub worked loose and needed a rapid service too.

Maybe I just got unlucky with a bad set - but my experience of these is that they are k*k in terms of build quality, wouldn't choose them again.

Ok - so I need to report back for the record.

Massive double thumbs up to Heldeberg Cycle World and Omnico. They understood my frustration and have replaced the EA90 SLX wheelset with a brand new pair. No quibble or repairs this time, boxed and shiny new wheels.

That part makes me very happy (they also gave great service on first broken spoke too, fixed and back in 6 days).

I can't yet say whether the new wheels are more durable - but my LBS and local agent get a solid 10 for service.
