Going to do the lowers in December, will start to get everything together so it's all ready to go. Uppers will do next year i reckon. Just wanted to gauge the costing - whether it would just be more viable to take it to the shop to do.

Believe me, it is not. When my shock needed a service I quoted it. The one shop asked me R700 excluding courier fees to wherever they ship it. The other shop charged me R650 for excluding courier fees. My closets shop just siad they dont have the time to service shocks.

So, Iasked for assistance on thehub, google for the video on YouTube and downloads the service manual from the internet. Even for a person not technical minded, it would not be difficult.

Sweet - thanks dude

Hi, on the topic of Rock Shox Servicing, I have a Rock Ario 2.2 that's staring to misbehave. Recently I have been feeling the shock working when I'm pedalling hard even thought the shock is locked.

I'm assuming that this means it needs a service, I anyway have never had my rear shock serviced since I got the bike, can it be serviced and how would I go about servicing it.

For the lowers service If your fork is in nice condition you dont need anything other than oil - low viscosity engine oil is good , I use castrol magnatec - works awesome. You do need to use the recommended fork oil for the uppers service. The seals and whatnot are for the uppers service , lowers service may need wiper seals only if your current ones are shot and maybe new wiper sponges but that's probably about it.

Good2go in pinetown are the guys to send your fork/shock to if you are in Durban and want quick turn around. They charge around R700 for the full service lowers + uppers which is what most spots seem to charge
