Taking SS'ing to whole new level

When the fad has worn out, I will still be riding my SS whilst the posers are telling the guys on the golf course how they should be embracing wooden clubs.

You are either very young, or very gullible or very new to the sport.

 

It would actually be easier if you change your handle to FSR.

Ironically enough, I don't ride a bike with a 4 bar linkage anymore (nice system before Specialized introduced their own shocks)... VPP, Quad link for me.

I ride a FSA gravity light "handle"-bar in 740mm too. Oh, and a LoadedUSA one in 710mm

I just have a real cheap bike, nothing special.

I ride with Ritchey 640 mm. handlebars though.

Therein I allude to the fact that the posers annoy me.

This rich youngster decided to patronize an old and poor man.

His tjommie the Slick one decided to come and get his little bit of a swipe in too.

 

It's now gone to a bragging contest about handlebars ,numerous choices of bikes and what not.

 

And in the end of the day the person who wanted input had thanked me ages ago for my post.

Dangle. Don't take life so seriously. I tackled you because I thought your comments were unfair. He asked why you cannot tolerate people who are new to SS and who want to dress funny. That is not patronising but still you went on the attack.

 

Just let riders ride what they want wearing whatever they want. I don't understand why you would take such offence at that?

 

Anyway, slick out. Going to be building up my SS this week and will be looking out for a weird outfit for the SSWC.

I don't think you do. I understood, enjoyed and agreed with most of your post until you started feeling the need to put down some of the new SS riders. It has not been my experience that the SS riders in the group are arrogant or shove it down my throat. In fact the groups we ride with no one can be classified as arrogant and what a rider wears has little to do with their attitude. And bad attitudes are quickly sorted out.

You know Slick, I was going to leave you be when I saw your post earlier, the I actually though to myself you may have a point.

 

I actually don't get it, I don't get what you are on about.

You quote me and address that quote and then a few hours later you change your mind and make reference to my original post.

I really don't get it.

 

What I do get.

I think your first quote was with the intention to pick an argument and you probably sat there saying to yourself "it's about time someone puts this tjop in his place"

I get the fact that you are not slick enough to man up that you took my reference to the posers personal.

I also get the fact that you expected me to take it all lying down.

 

Well it's the internet, people say an internet fight is as puerile as farting in to an empty Coke bottle.

 

You see, (and I love using this term) here's the rub.

 

Doggone asked a simple question, I labored him with an extended explanation, he seemed quite appreciative of this.

I even mentioned that I am putting my box suit on (not my boxing suit) and alluded to the fact that the posers annoy me.

Guess what, they always have and they always will annoy me.

It's the handful of posers that make it unpleasant for the rest, especially the new people.

 

Then I read stories about egg rolls and relaxed paced rides without computers, guess what I don't have a computer either.

I also don't have to dress out of place during a ride just so that the entire group are sure of the fact that some against the grain dude is here on his "hardcore" bike.

 

Every other thread about who commutes on a SS, who is doing this on a SS, let's have a SS ride.

SS riders unite, gears are for queers, if you use your thumb you are dumb............ and the list goes on.

Hell man, why can't it just be a bicycle.

 

My profile pic might make me look dumber than what I really am, but have done some work on my teeth since.

 

My prediction, the bottom will fall out of the entire SS thing in time to come here in S.A. whilst the rest of the world ,where they just ride bikes are still very much enjoying their single speeds.
