I am looking for a stem with an angle of between 20 and 30 degrees with a length of 80-90mm for my MTB.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as I am really struggling to get hold of one. I know Ritchey has one as part of their 2012 catalogue but it is not yet available in RSA.

Reason for this is, that my frame is slightly to small for me, and as I dont have money to buy a new bike I will just have to make it work. The current 'drop' from my saddle to my handle bars is 7.5cm and I have a strong suspicion that is the cause of my lower back pain.

Ravex makes a hi rise stem, called" tempo" on the side of it.Should be freely avaiable.I have three, one on each of my mtbs.

I think you are right with the lower back pain,as I also felt my lower stem was the cause.I experimented with a higer front end and it has certainly worked.I got the stems at cycle lab ages ago, would thing you can get it there.

Bought the last one at Cycle Lab Fourways a few weeks back. They should have stock again.

Just make sure of the clamp size on the front. I needed a standards size and it took me weeks to track down.

Also try Solomons

I need one with a 31.8mm clamp. I will give the guys at cycle lab a call to confirm stock.

Which brand did you buy by the way?

I was at Linden Cycles for a new stem this week. I'm pretty sure they had a 40 degree short stem. Give em a call on 011 782 7313.

Yeah, I think it is too short though. The OP is looking for a 80 - 90mm length.

Aaah ok. Maybe still worth a call. They had a big basket full of stems.

Every time I need an odd stem I go and sit there on the floor and go through that basket. :D
