Hi ppl,

I'm looking at entering the world of MTBing, so I'm in the market for a bike. I have a few friends who're currently advising me, but I thought to throw the question here as well to see what your suggestions are.

I'm looking for a 29er, full suspension, for up to R20k. I'll buy new this time - partly to spoil myself, and partly because I'm probably going to need after sales support. I'd like to buy something that will last me at least a few years.

What would your suggestions be? My measurements make me a large - though I'm a very light large.

But what do I know, I ride a 26er.

Happy shopping.

My "advisors" also ride 26ers - so I'm more than willing to listen to a 26er! :)

I will take the Fuji over the Scott on rear suspension alone. And the Scott is dumb: Trail geometry gives lower bb, XC setting higher - thats wrong way round!

Also take a look at the TREK Gary Fisher Superfly 100 Alu

I'm really enjoying mine

I am in much the same position as the opening poster and this was one of the bikes I put on my list, alas 2013 stock has not arrived yet and there are no 2012 models in stock, at least not when I phone last week. Getting one for R20k may be somewhat of a challenge but it does seem like a great bike!
