Tygerberg mtb Club to become multisport?!?

HI there all

Lots of questions and concerns to respond to and probably won't get all in.

Quick background: the club sent notice of an SGM to propose a new constitution (not an amended document intended to "slip" anything in but a completely new document that was required as the old document was no longer suitable for a club of it's size). I've pm'd those who've identified themselves as club members outlining where and when communication was sent as well as supplying my personal contact details so they can contact me directly with any queries.

The changes in the constitution that relate to multisport and trail running were mostly initiated by requests from club members who also trail run.It is in response to these queries that the committee included trail running in the document. Many of us are concerned over shared use of the trails so if you are a member and not happy with the constitution as it stands, please vote or respond as per the details at the bottom of the original post.

We do not feel that this forum is the most helpful place to be discussing internal club issues, but we are happy to respond to queries related to the club and it's trails in a new posting.

Skuburra, quite possibly more non-members than members now use the trails; whatever changes a new constitution brings will affect them too, do they not have a right to know? Wrt the committee, 5 days later they have not responded to questions posed directly to them.

Waaaayyyy too many politics and issues at TBMTBC. Think I'll sit out next year and go ride at Botlary and some of the SSW trails instead. Sad that ego's get in the way of what could have been one of the best clubs in SA. I will go and vote no to the proposed changes as I think that the committee could have addressed the concerns of members better. Using public forums could have helped them to have healthy discussion on the topics. Instead of embracing Social media and public forums in this regard they are merely tollerating it.

POSTPONEMENT of SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING for Thursday 06 September 2012

 

Over the past 11 days the committe has received invaluable feedback regarding the proposed new constitution. We have come to the realisation that it would be too early to vote on the proposed constitution until all the feedback has been considered and where necessary incorporated.

In light of this, the SGM will be postponed until the aforesaid has been done.

 

Until otherwise specified, all communication will take place via the club newsletter.
