flymango Posted September 4, 2012 Share Not sure if this has been posted already (please merge if so), but I read that the Western Cape Government has introduced a Road Traffic Bill for comment by September 20, which, amongst others, will introduce a 1.5 m passing law for motorists overtaking cyclists. Also proposes a ban on blue light brigades, but most significantly a 10km/h reduction in speed limits. Should be fun to see the response from those who feel justified speeding in the right lane as if it's an autobahn (what you say Bob?).

ibruegge Posted September 5, 2012 Share 110kph speed limit. I just looked at my car - last 1453 kms I averaged 44.3 kps - i.e. I'd be fairl unaffected. If it saves a life, I am all for it. If it can be policed, same as the 1.5m distance to cyclists, remains another question.
flymango Posted September 5, 2012 Share If you don't mind me asking what does the passing law mean? Other than stating the obvious and also questioning how it will be policed, at least it could potentially put cyclists' safety in the mind of motorists.
