For thoe ith bigger travel bikes, or those that love the technical...

Rock Shox Reverb. They seem expensive, but as all dropper post owners will attest, they really do transform a bike and are worth every cent.

+1 I don't know how I will be able to go back to a normal seat post after riding with a dropper!

Must admit the one thing I use before every ride and has probably saved me hundreds in puncture repair or loss of control, road or MTB:

Park Tool Floor Pump

After that...best value is a SRAM Quick Chain link

Not after my weekend experience.... I decided to strip my downhill bike and give it a revamp. The chain was equipped with a Quicklink....... Bare hands no chance! Had to use a set of circlip pliers to get inbetween the end plates to force that SOB apart! If I had been stuck on a trail somewhere it would have been a long walk home (No wait, it came off my DH bike so it would have been at most 2km back to the bakkie downhill where there would have been at least 5 guys offering to help!! )

Converting my bike to rigid single speed eliminated all of the costs associated with servicing suspension and replacing worn out drivetrain bits.

And all the money you save can go towards carpal tunnel and knee replacement surgery
