  1. Thanks a million. I did come right with a swap, but I could use your frame to build a bike to donate to someone less fortunate, to use as daily transport. I'll send you a PM.
  2. For what I could sell it for, I wouldn't get a ss-specific MTB steel frame, I'm afraid.
  3. Guys, I'm looking to swap my black, medium Solaris for a Simple in any colour - also medium. Any takers?
  4. It's been a while, but I'm offering another basic bike repair course on 01 December at the PWC bike park. More info and bookings at: http://www.buildabikesa.com/product/basic-bicycle-repair/
  5. She's always evolving. Same bike as the original opening post of this thread. Now running a SID, AbsoluteBlack oval ring on Saint cranks and Spank Oozy Trail 345 rims on Hope Pro4 hubs. Singlespeed. And a Lyne dropper.
  6. I can and do use everything that is donated to Build-a-Bike SA. Please drop off at the PWC Bike Park whenever convenient. Cheers!
  7. In case you didn't know, there's a little Cotic fan page on FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1778029969140943/
  8. The next basic bike repair course is this Saturday at 9am. Click here for more info: http://www.buildabikesa.com/product/basic-bicycle-repair/ This is a great course for any cyclist and imparts the skills necessary to do most repairs and servicing, as well as roadside fixes. The proceeds help fund the Build-a-Bike SA initiative to get more people riding bikes as daily transport.
  9. 780mm
  10. Still hasn't had her maiden voyage but she's fine-tuned and ready. 46-18 gear should be fast. Magic gear as it happens.
  11. One of the first guys I ever gave a bike - Mashudu, a security guard from Diepsloot, had his bike stolen and now has to spend a lot on transport. He used to ride his bike EVERY day! Does anyone have a MTB lying about that you could donate to this guy? He's super-loyal, all-round good guy and has been working at my complex full time in Paulshof since 2010. I have a long waiting list of new guys waiting for bikes and I don't think it fair to give him one before I've seen to their needs. Any bike wil be appreciated, but a medium MTB is prefereble.
  12. It uses a normal BSA threaded BB, so whatever screws in. I'm about to put a normal cartridge square taper BB in there which seem to run forever, and use the cranks off the Simple Sam. What cranks do you have on yours?
  13. Lovely Escapade!
  14. I need to sell this bike - unfortunately I have some unexpected medical bills to pay. Small Solaris 29er running 1x10 with a Zee shifter and Zee derailleur. LX cranks, Deore M615 brakes, Crest rims on Novatec hubs, Manitou Tower fork Bike has done less than 500km. Please make me a fair offer. It cost about R25k to put together.
  15. Born from the parts of long-dead bikes. Wheels off a Spez, brake, bars and stem off a Simple Sam, Scott Speedster frame, random non-branded carbon fork. Should make a swift commuter - possibly with wider bars and a front brake.
  16. Nobody want a (slightly) cheaper last minute entry into this iconic event? My wife needs surgery on Friday so I can't ride anymore.
  17. Anyone need an entry? I can no longer participate.... gutted.
  18. Just seen this now Hairy. I can definitely use the hubs, thanks. Can you send them to me in JHB?
  19. My riding partner and I are riding J2C single speed to raise funds for Unite For Change SA. Our target is to raise R100k. Unite for Change is a registered Section 18A PBO, which means that they can give tax invoices for all donations. This benefits corporates as the contributions are tax deductible and contribute to BEE scorecards and Corporate Social Responsibility objectives. If you can assist in any way, please let me know.
  20. Good man.
  21. Looking forward to tonight. Braaap

  24. I'll be exhibiting at the Africa Cycle Fair this weekend at St Stithians - stand number 7. Please feel free to bring along and donate any bikes / parts that you no longer need. We still need a bit of everything to build bikes for donation to the underprivileged. Specifically we need 29er forks and wheels to build a couple of frames I have lying about. Hope to see you there! http://www.africacyclefair.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/ACF-LOGO-RGB-512.jpg
