Post what you think is the best VALUE FOR MONEY cycling related item you can buy.

SO... There are a lot of cool cycling gadgets and components out there. But what have you purchased and continued to think, "wow, what a buy!" for months thereafter.

A lot of us would much rather spend more money on something if we know it is value for money.

What have you bought and never looked back? It does not matter how cheap or expensive it is!

I have only bought things when they are on special. If I needed them before but felt they were too expensive I would wait. Inevitably someone somewhere has a special on the items you need.

Bike R4500 Retail R7000

Helmet R900 Retail R1700

Shoes R1000 Retail R1700

Gloves R120 Retail R350

And so the list goes on... not really what you are asking but that's the way I do it.

This may go against the "buy the most expensive/latest/greatest" ethic of some on here but it works for me and every day I get to ponder how much I've saved.

I have blinged my sceptic wife's bike with numerous upgrades. Normlly I get a raised eyebrow. Put a hand me down wheelset (much better than what she had) on for her that had tubeless with lower tyres pressures. She still raves about tht ride which was on our regular trail and how her bike felt so much better.

All my own upgrades satisfy the nut in me. Far more benefit from proper setup and setting brakes, gears etc. Wont stop my habit though.

Puncture kit (one of those little boxes with glue, patches, emery paper, talc). It's just a couple of bux, but when you need it - priceless! Same thing for those cheapo tyre-levers. Ever tried getting a really tight tyre off the rims using only stuff you can find lying next to the road? Finally, a R10-note. If you slash your tyre, it keeps the tube from having a hernia - and you can swap it for a bar one if you've hit the wall. Oh yes, one of those tiny adapters that allow you to pump up your tyres at a garage. Never needed mine, but you never know...
