I have a 5 year old full carbon road bike. It really feels as if it has become slow over time. No I am not slower as my MTB and TT have actually picked up. Sometimes I actually struggle to stay in the group of a fun ride even when slipstreaming!!!

Are there any specific things I should look out for like wheel bearings etc or is the new bike technology just catching up on me?

Is there anything I can do like get better wheels etc?

Difficult to say,

Could be bearing / hub needs servicing.

Brakes rubbing?

tyre pressures?

Wont hurt to check out the hubs / bearings, etc

Check out the BB too - I know, they're also bearings .... ;)

I struggle again when riding on my Road Bike.Each year after the Trans Baviaans and training only mtb throughout the winter, I think I'm going to kill on the road bike, being 5kg lighter then my mtb, but ekt my gat gesien with the first 100km road race I did!Must be the intensity you train with.Long slow training or fast short training

Like he said. I did TB and thought I'd cruise a road tour I just came back from. Looks like i "trained myself slow" as another Hubber put it as I suffered for a lot of the 500+kms.

What is BB's?

Ball Bearings?

Gonna take it to the LBS and ask the oke to "fasten" my bike.

BB = Bottom Bracket

Just having mine replaced with a shiny new Chris King one ... which of course is going to make me way faster, to justify the spend ;)
