Crank arms,chain stays and pedal axle lengths.

Occasionally when I ride my Ghost my right (drive side) foot catches the chain stay (the heel section of my foot), especially when bombing down rocky hills. Is there a standard for the distance between the chain stay and inside of the crank arm? Are all pedals created the same, i.e. is there another type of pedal (I used M520's) that have a slightly longer axle length to help keep my foot away from the chain stay? You can see the gap difference between the Ghost and my GT.
