Thanx for an awesome ride x2 on Saturday, was fantabulous, loved it...always great fun out with you guys

It was the best when i said bye to go for ride no 2 and everyone joined in

Mercia (SIL) really appreciated the help from all you guys, you are the best and she loved the ride though not in a good space at the moment, but was good for her to come out a bit and enjoy the fresh air and laughs with us!

I'm still a bit irritated with myself for not doing two technical bits which I thought i would not be able to do! Could someone slap me next time and make me do it please

I will make sure I'm there next time. Then there are no excuses. I'll make you do everything twice to make up for this... :D

I know D.A.M was behind me at the rocky bit trying to convince me not to stop, but I was too scared....sorry D.A.M...next time i'll try harder :P

I'm still trying to imagine any technical rocky bits at NF

Sure I remember some fun bits but technical???

There was a section which went into a drop-off into a tunnel underneath the highway and then went downhill into a short root section, crossed the river twice and then climbed up snaking single track <sigh> on the way back to the car park.

There is a new rocky section after you exit the singletrack section by the river. In new, I mean last time I rode NF was end last year. Not hektic, but may cause a dab or two.

Oh my goodness. Are you sure you didnt crack one or two? Speedy recovery my friend. Got your sms about the 29er test. Will arrange something and let you know.

I live by two mottos. 1. what does not kill you can only make you stronger 2. Failure is not fatal, success is not final, it is the courage to continue that counts. Yeah I know I did not do that root garden again but at least I got back on the bike and continued the ride rather than quitting and going back to the car.

Oh and if I did crack a rib or two I don't think I will be able to find out as there are no funds available in the medical aid

Cracked ribs just need time to heal provided you did crack one. You'll be 100% :D

Also, great motto to live by.

The second one was said by winston Churchill during world war 2

What is the point in mtbing if you don't take a knock every now and then. At least next time I will know to carry even more momentum than what I carried on saturday

Extra momentum does work - just need to make sure you keep the arms and legs flexing in time with the bumps.

  really, am not laughing at your discomfort but at your very descriptive um... way of putting it!

Are you ok? Why didnt you say anything? Am sure one of the dudes would have helped push......

I'm as good as new. Looking forward to the next ride. Sometimes one has to swallow some pride, no reason to stand there and make as if nothing has happened and in the meantime you are cringing with pain. If it sore, rub!

I know. That is why I put it out there. Ouchies either I pushed it too hard yesterday or that root garden did more damage than what I thought originally.

Ribs are in constant pain, bruises all over the place, a couple blood blisters, can barely eat or drink anything due to the sore tooth (trip to dentist me finks), and the list goes on

You only know the full extent of your injuries the next day. Strongs with that mate! Hope you heal quickly.

The problem with that section is the way people enter it. It looks like the safest line is going around the big root and then gently crawling over the bridge and out the other side. People don't approach it right and they stay too rigid on the bike and also some stay seated. They freeze up the second the front wheel digs at the roots, push they arms out instead of pulling back on the bars and then the catapult fires.

Relax, relax, relax. Out of the saddle, weight back and approach as straight as possible. Keep the momentum going.
