On the 11 December I phoned the Battaglin Factory in Italy and a letter requesting two replaceable dropouts. They promised before Xmas. heard nothing. Sent email again on 4th Jan 08 still no response still nothing. You know if it wasnt for BMC in Salt River there would be no bike to ride. They welled it .

 i am officailly pissed off.

But I cant go Bitch on them then will get even less service. Can there be anything less than nothing.

I have again sent the email today. I wait in hopesmiley7.gif

Give them time, many Italian factories closed for Christmas around the 15th Dec and only re-opened 15 or so Jan - I know because I import drill bits from Italy and have had an order in since 01 Dec, still not even packed in Italy.

Italians dont have the same "work to a schedule" ethic as we do here in SA - I am sure they will get around to it in good time -  I understand your irritation, but you just have to understand the Italian mentality to these things.Big%20smile

If it was China, Japan, USA or Germany you would have had a reply the next day - Italy,.............well things just take a bit longer.Big%20smile

I will hold thumbs that you receive an answer soon.

Italians can be quite timeous...  Delt with them a few years ago.

I deal with Italians quite a bit...never ever ever have they run on schedule...they are quite pleasant but sloooowwwwwwww!

I know from my own dealings with the Italians and some Extralite stuff I bought that they are very tempremental. They seem to take any problems with their workmanship as a personal insult especially the job producers.

A family member of mine is fortunate enough to be able to afford a Ferarri F430. It took him an extra 18 months after the promised date to get his car. In all he waited over three years for it.

While i didn't exactly feel too sorry for him i did try to act sympathetic so as not to ruin my chance of getting a ride in it.

I think thats a pretty standard wait time for a Ferrari Velo.

Nice to have a business where you are booked up three years in advance hey, most average SA companies would be over the moon with three WEEKS of orders.Dead

So how was the ride?

Waiting for the car was an adventure in itself. He went to the factory twice to check on the progress and he was invited to the Italian GP where he was treated as a VIP.

The ride was surreal. He lives in Joburg and we went out on a Sunday morning from Fourways to Harties. Theres that new road after Lanseria going towards Sterkfontein and we were doing 200+ in places. I did feel a bit guilty because there were cyclists on the road but its not often you get the chance to experience something like that.

Wow, we mere mortals can only dream hey.Big%20smile

I know the road well, in my spare time I do a bit of (motorised) bike riding, and in summer I try and do a breakfast run with the crowd at least once a month.

I still have a number of drop outs for various models in the Battaglin line up. (I used to import the brand)

Maybe I can help.

Ciao
