Hi

I recently bought a indoor trainer and used it for teh first time. When I was done there was a distinct burnig rubber smell. Can anyone assist with this.

Thanks

What tyres you using? Trainer tyre - if not this is possibly your problem - you need a rubber compound that doesn't get too hot.

Also maybe you have the roller set too hard against the rear tyre. It just has to touch the rear tyre enough so that the tyre doesn't slip when pedaling.

Something I have done a few times is to have the cable that controls the tension just lightly touching the rear wheel - result = burning rubber/plastic smell. Just ensure that your tensioning cable is placed so that it doesn't touch your rear wheel at all.

"i love the smell of burning rubber after an indoor training session, smells like, oh dear, i need a new tyre"... bummer
