Hi,

Does anyone know if the cyclist that was nocked down on Saturday in the Cradle on Beyers Naude is ok???

Just saw the cyclist lying there while medics were working on him...

Hi guys,

The female cyclists was not knocked down, she experienced a flat front during the downhill and could not keep control of the bicycle, thus resulting in a nasty fall.

Road Rangers and ER24 on scene within minutes to treat her injuries and ensure safe passage past the scene for cyclists and motorists. She was stabilzed by the ILS paramedic and transported to Life fourways. she only sustained some cuts and bruises, nothing serious and was discharged from hospital the same day.

It looked quite hectic for passer by's as precautions had to be taken to reduce possible further injuries like;

Treating for shock

Immobilizing by holding C-Spine and transfer to spine board and spider web.

Administering some O2

Monitoring vitals.

Please can we change the heading of this thread to something more appropriate as she was not knocked down.

The Road Rangers Safety Marshals is employed in the cradle by Move Insurance every Saturday morning, looking after the safety of the cyclists in the cradle area. We set-up a JOC at Valverde from 06:00, please come say howzit. There is also an ER24 response vehicle posted at the JOC for emergencies, call 084 124.

Thanks Road Rangers, saw the lady down and it did look serious, but glad to hear she is okay... you guys rock!

Lots of Tacks on the road again, used all my bombs up helping out puncture victims cursing.gif

What? cursing.gif They still busy putting out tacks!?

Where exactly were the tacks put out? I was on a Lab club ride on Saturday and we did not suffer any punctures in our group. Did see some road workers 'working' though....

The stretch of road from the cradle to Beyers, corner beyers and northumberland, is a no go for me. You risk your own life using that stretch of road there is hardly any shoulder there and little enough space for cars. If you get a flat down that stretch of road you in trouble one way or the other.
