Hi guys

I have a second office in Epping, Viking road, which I would like to commute to as well, but am a little unsure about the best route to take here, but also to get some distance in.

I was thinking of going down the cycle lane till Chuch Street bridge in Woodstock, and then shoot up Voortrekker till I hit Vanguard and then it is a hop skip and a jump to the office. Is there maybe better routes to take, or should this route be fine? My main concern is the safety going up Voortrekker through Salt River. I have never been up there even with my car, so have no idea what the road looks like.

I've never ridden that route on a bike myself, but I would be very careful of Voortrekker Road through Maitland and Kensington, especially the section through Kensignton which is divided into four very narrow lanes and is a bit daunting even by car.

Wouldn't it possibly be better to take the cycle path up to Section Road in PAarden Eiland, take a left into Section, ride to Koeberg Interchange and then cross the N1 into Maitland, hop over to Berkley Rd, then Jan Smuts past Old Mutual, and then Viking Road into Epping?

Servetus, thank you very much.

I was weary of that specific section of Voortrekker Rd, hence me thinking it wise to ask first. Will check out your suggested route. Thanks.

you can also get across the n1 at the canal walk train station. follow the road straight down to the mutual station and that will get you over the tracks there as well.

i was going to try that out when i worked at mutual for a while.

Thanks Woofie. Will look into both options.
