Ah, so it's not just me! I was in H and had exactly the same experience - you chase down a group and then it splits and you sit behind a single person, or you completely alone and have to choose between chasing again or waiting for next group, which also splits... etc etc At least we all have the wind to blame!

Ah thanks, I tried the route from the JC le Roux side once and got to the (closed) gate, and then tried to go "around" it on the farmtracks through the vineyards, but it went horribly wrong and I had to literally crawl through vineyard lines with my bike to get back on the route - hoping that the landowners don't mistake me for a burglar!

Are you talking about the Devonvalley Road branching off from Bottelary Road? Can you ride through to Stellenbosch with it - I was under the impression it is a dead end road?
