Shangri la Posted November 23, 2012 Share I am building a tallboy and received an interesting comment the other day… I was asking for pricing on Mavic Crossmax SLR 29 wheels and was told to rather look at the Mavic SL as the SLR flex and tend to damage too easily. I use them on my 26 and have no problems ever. Would you agree?

CAAD4 Posted November 23, 2012 Share Not a fan of high priced factory MTB wheels. Shirley you can build a good custom set for the same number of Nelsons? rouxtjie

cowboylegs Posted November 23, 2012 Share aren't mavics the only tubeless wheels? i.e. the rims dont have to get tubeless tape if so its why they are priced at a premium

Ysterperd Posted November 25, 2012 Share Cant go wrong with Mavic's. When I build my Tallboy i opted for the Mavic C29's, only option available at the time. Have since ridden the SLX (mate of mine chose them) and although they are lighter and more blingy, I would personally recomend the SL or even C29's, better value for money

BMXER Posted November 25, 2012 Share I have 2 sets of slr's and one set of eastons. Slr's are the best in my 20 years of racing.
