Im looking for a running watch with gps. Im leaning towards the 910xt, because I think the maps would be helpful when I go for a morning jog in a foreign city.

The disadvantage is: monster size, for a watch, cost.

Another option would be to go for a cheaper 410.

I would like to hear some comments and advice from users of the910, 610 and 410.

If you need a barometric altimeter the 910 is you only option in that bunch.

Remember the mapping on the 910 is only a bread crumb trail with an arrow, not a car GPS type map, for that you would look at the Edge 800 or their outdoor units.

Depends what features you need at the end of the day.

The 410 doesn't really seem to fit in with this group.

In deciding between the 410, 310 and 910 I decided against the 410 because it's too small and it uses touch operation. I went with the 310 over the 910 because the more expensive model offered me no functionality that I actually needed.

Monster size? I started out with a 301 back in 2005 and it didn't feel big on my (small) wrist. I've run marathons and ridden the battery dead on these guys and can't say that I felt a huge weight dragging me to the left.

I use the 310 for much the same sort of activity that you do. Unfortunately, unlike the 301 and the 305 that I used previously, the 310 does not support Routes that you can upload from Mapsource or Basecamp. It does support courses, which are a little less user friendly to create and use, but still do the job if you want to plot a "route" - as opposed to a Route - beforehand.

As the previous poster mentioned, there is no map as such, just a breadcrumb track. Of course, if you get lost, there's the option to Return to Start, which will get you back to base at least.

Edit: oh, and battery life is also good with the 310.

Some good advice thanks! Spoke to some running buddies today, they dont rzte the 410, all recommend the 310. Difference from 310 to 910 looks like some swimming features, but I dont swim.

Correction, you don't swim yet...

Think about what you will do in the future.

In hind sight I perhaps should have got the 910 and not the Edge 500, as I now do a bit of everything.
