Gearing on a niner is slightly more "difficult" than a 6er given the same chaunring sizing and cassette sizing, so a 38 would be like a 40. Should be perfect for most conditions. Guest ctMTBer Posted November 26, 2012 Share I have 28/42 on my one bike and 26/39 on the other. 11-36 at the back. Hardly ever use te 42x11 and I don't run out off gears on the 39x11.
