Battery going flat in either the sensor or the watch is the most likely cause.  Some sensors are faulty, but if you've had no problems previously then probably just battery.  For the watch send to IHF in Joburg to replace the battery, for the sensor just unscrew and replace it yourself.

Thanks for ur response. The watch is a725x, but HR is working fine. I dont see a screw or anything like it to open the sensor. it did work before as I used to have the power Unit. Havent ysed in about 5 months.

The screws are hard to see... there are 2 of them.

You have to take the sensor off the bike to be able to see / loosen them.

If the red light is flashing as the wheel magnet passes the sensor, then the battery should be ok (but might be weak)

Before trying to change the battery, make sure that the sensor is close as possible to the watch. Best to secure the sensor near the top of the fork and the watch on the same side of the handle bar.

If you wear it on your wrist then the distance might be to far for a weak battery.

Might be better to get a decent LBS or polar dealer to change the sensor battery, but if you are the voyage of discovery type, make like so:

There are 2 screw holes in the curved section that presses against the fork when attached to the bike.

The screws are inside these holes.

You need a small (watch or instrument) plain (straight) screwdriver to loosen the screws.

WHEN INSERTING THE SCREW DRIVER. BE CAREFULL!!! IT CAN GO BETWEEN THE SCREW AND THE PLASTIC HOUSING AND CRACK THE HOUSING WHEN YOU TURN THE SCREW DRIVER.... (Yes happened to me once...)

Once the screws are loosend the sensor comes apart in 2 halves.

There is a small green colored pc board sticking out (NB MAKE A NOTE OF WHICH WAY IT GOES IN, you will need this later), pull this out gently.

The battery is held in place by a gold colored "spring plate" with 3 "legs" that click it onto the pcb, (NB MAKE A NOTE OF WHICH WAY THE BATTERY + SIDE FITS, have not done it for awhile so i cannot remember).

Gently pry (from the side the battery is on) 2 of the legs out of the pcb with the small plain screw driver.

Battery can now be changed.

Battery type = 2032

Carefully put the pcb back in the same way it came out.

Hold the 2 plastic halves together, make sure they fit properly (can only go one way).

Tighten both screws a few turns at a time untill tight (remember too tight is F*cked broken).

Good luck n enjoyWink

Thanks SV I think I will go the LBS route, as i might just break the housing being my luck.( New one costs R850.00 )then I can always blame some one else if it doesnt work. i will keep this piece of info in  a file. Now can u help me install my new DVD recorder. You want to install a dvd on your bike (this is a cycling forum)...Wink

Uhmm DVD players, decoders, stereo's ..Arggh hate installing them, my hifi speaker still dont work and when the hifi's on the sound only works if the TV's on...through the tv speakers.

However my bit of advice would be...

Make sure TV and DVD are OFF, unplugged from power source

1. The aerial cable that is currently plugged into your TV - The TV end stays in the TV, the other end goes into the DVD antenna in plug.

2. you should have an anntenna cable that came with the DVD, this plugs into the TV OUT plug on the back of the DVD, the other end goes into the ANTENNA IN on the back of the TV.

3. You should also have a SCART cable (the one with big electrical connectors on either end). This also needs to be connected between the DV and TV, think its called EXTENSION 1, VIDEO or AUDIO OUT on the DVD and the same on the TV side, make sure both ends correspond (i.e. go into the plug with the same name).

4. Turn on TV and plug in DVD power cable.

5. Hopefully...

Thats about all i can think of, like i said earlier all the other stuff like Stereo, decoder ect make it more complicated.

Hope this helped...
