mnr, whats the diff between tl ready and tl tyres? Need a set for my first Attakwas

In a nutshell, UST tyres have thicker sidewalls and the bead sits a bit tighter on the rim so it should technically seal without the aid of sealant, but that is on paper. They are heavier though...but normally bulletproof. I like TL-ready tyres(must have sealant to get a seal going) cause they are tough enough and light enough but whatever brand you buy, make sure to get the "protection / snakeskin / EXO" sidewall reinforced versions. They are a good compromise between weight and toughness.

Oh and haven't done atta, but heard its a hard one...both one you and your equipment..rocks and more rocks, so very thin lightweight jobbies like the standard schwalbe evo's will cut very easily there.

Yip - ordered the same thing yesterday, arrived in Stellenbosch today. And the two Racing Ralphs are cheaper than what I paid for them a year ago, from the same people.

Anyone had experience with the Snakeskin version in Attakwas conditions - a little worried, heard even the Snakeskins got sidewall cuts.

I've ridden Oak Valley, Sani, Baviaans, Swazi, Lourensford, Botrivier, Eden and W2W on these Racing Ralphs - not a single problem.

I rode the Attakwas on the old Conti Race Kings (the non tubeless ones converted to tubeless) and never had an issue.

My advice - aim to miss the rocks ;)

Thanks for the feedback.
