Ja, the online entries are closed now but I seem to recall reading that they do take entries on the day.

I think your best bet is to e-mail either info@midmarmile.co.za or kate@midmarmile.co.za, they were mentioned earlier in the thread.

So looks like I'll be the only non-swimmer, aka triathlete, lining up for the 3km?

Those real swimmers are gonna leave me in their wake. Will be great practice to try and hold onto some feet

Haha, good luck, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be at the back for the 1500m, I'd never swam more than 200m before last month.

I'm in for the 1.5km, no expectations. Just going to be getting used to the wetsuit again and try new goggles etc. I want to get an idea of what time I can expect to swim the 5150.

So who did this? I saw 2 guys in wetsuits at the 1.5k 30 yrs + so reckon must have been hubbbers! My wife tells me one of you came third! Reckon that may have pee'd off the hardcore swimmers a bit :D

In the end I ditched the wetsuit cos at that time I thought I would be the only one. Loved the event - great venue and nice for a family as well, so will be back for the next one.

When I arrived on Sat I at first I didnt see anyone else in a wetsuit. Was super reluctant to be the only person swimming in one but luckily some other triathletes rocked up in theirs.

Enjoyed the swim. Would be interested to see the official times so I can get my lap splits. Damn those kids are fast though

I was really looking forward to it but ended up nursing a hangover yesterday.

Is anybody planning on swimming at Emmerentia any time soon?

Hey guys,

Pretty new to this forum and thread, but I'm also looking to do a wetsuit swim at Emmarentia this week sometime - to test it out before 5150 this weekend.

To all the guys who have swum there before: where is the best place to swim from?

I don't want to end up getting mowed over by a canoe or something....

Usually, we swim from the canoe club around the white buoys - same direction as the paddlers (wear a bright cap) i.e. clockwise (well, if they are going clockwise). It's about a 1km lap. I think it's better to keep to the middle of the dam, but they will go around you anyway
