bees Posted January 13, 2013 Share Does anyone have Shimano DX single speed sprocket on and experienced the cog cutting into the hub? I have read that the Gusset sprocket has a broader base. Would this make the Gusset better than the DX Sprocket?
Baroudeur Posted January 13, 2013 Share Depends on your freehub body...steel or Alu. I have run both and have had no cutting into the freehub....but my freehub is steel so not really a porblem. If you have Alu freehubs then the broader base will be unlikely to cut in, but the DX might. My 2c worth.
Flippa Posted January 13, 2013 Share I found the narrower cog does mar the aluminium free hub body quite quickly if you are a masher on the SS. Any of the SS cogs with the wider base would be better, Gusset, Surly, Endless, Halo, etc. I have had the Surly on my wheels for about 4000km and the free hub isn't marked at all.
