  1. By competitively inhibiting excretion, the drugs stays in the bloodstream longer and is not excreted in the urine, hence masking the drug in a urine test. It is in your system, just not in your urine ( or less will be present in your urine). My previous post was not clear. Apologies Sheriff.
  2. Probenicid has a half life of 4-17hrs depending on dose. Extensively metabolised in the liver and metabolites and 5-10% unchanged drug excreted in the urine. We usually use this drug to treat Gout. It will improve clearance of uric acid and certain drugs via the kidneys, hence previously used as a masking agent. Poor choice of masking agent these days as so easy to detect. So unlikely anyone with a brain would use it as a masking agent. If found in very low concentrations I would not rule out contamination of other medications in the manufacturing process...just saying
  3. Jay Thomson in the 5 man break
  4. Down the zigzag. As many laps as you can in 6 hrs......
  5. Try derailleurhanger.com. I have ordered some fairly obscure hangers from them over the years. They stock just about every hanger ever made. Just takes a while to get here form the US though.
  6. Try Dr. Demitri Constantinou at the Wits Centre for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. He is situated on the Education Campus, over the road from Wits Med School. I worked with Demitri on the Olympic team in 2008 and he is a great Sports Doctor
  7. Hi As V12MAN states, there are a number of factors causing cramp. Electrolyte problems are quite rare and you would probably be getting cramp at other times of day, and not just in one muscle like you currently are, if this was the cause. Vastus medialis cramp is not uncommon in cyclists and is usually caused by lack of conditioning, muscle imbalance and/or bike fit. Your vastus lateralis is probably too tight and your Vastus Medailis a bit weak (this is common in most individuals). I would also be willing to bet that your Psoas and Glutes are not firing as they should and you are therefore overloading your quads. There are various, quite simple, ways to fix the issue, in terms of treatment, exercise and bike fit. I am not going to advertise here, but I am able to help you in all areas, so send me a PM if you need some assistance.
  8. Depends on your freehub body...steel or Alu. I have run both and have had no cutting into the freehub....but my freehub is steel so not really a porblem. If you have Alu freehubs then the broader base will be unlikely to cut in, but the DX might. My 2c worth.
  9. Was lucky enough to meet the man at the Beijing Olympics. He was a great ambassador for this country and a gentleman through and through. Tragic, tragic, tragic..... Condolences to the family, although there are no words to take away the pain of losing a loved one.
  10. Nice one Iron. Going to be a sweet ride. Looking forward to the couch pic....seems to be a thing of the past on the Hub. MORE COUCH PICS EVERYONE!
  11. Nose strips make no difference to air entry to the lung, they may improve airflow to the upper airways when breathing solely through the nose, but otherwise make no difference to the amount of air that reaches the alveoli where gaseous exchange takes place. As per previous post you breath predominantly through your mouth when exercising anyway. As stated in previous posts a lot of the pro's use Olbas oil on cotton wool shoved up each nostril during warm up (you would have seen Cadel Evans doing this dring the TdF). This can assist in alleviating any congestion in the upper airways if required.
  12. But frame can be run singlespeed....
  13. Shimano Alfine hub (internal geared hub) ...so not a SS
  14. As far as I know you do not use spacers on the road cranksets but can/do on the MTB cranksets. Just built up a road bike with SRAM and the GXP BB instructions said not to use spacers. Have installed everything and it works perfectly so far.
  15. What a stupid tweet by a never was MTB pro, how many world champs has he competed in? Has he ever represented our nation at a cycling event? Beijing Olympics Road race and Time trial
