Just put some extra cash in my pocket - as I cannot race (broken collar boken 3 weeks back only back on bike for 4 days now) - if condition safe lets make the main race a bit more exciting by throwing in a few primes maybe extra prize money for a higher avg speeds! Need to ride the course at least once to see what I feel would be a challenging yet possible avg speed! Hope the organizers accept cash race bonuses from spectators - this often happens at Crits in Belgium!

Even though the conditions weren't prime exciting racing went down. U16's & U14s off first. Keanu Slingers breaking from the gun ad staying away the whole race. CAT3 was up next, around 25 guys and girls started, but we reduced the bunch by around 15riders, Lance Barrowman(CCC) and Faziel Thomas(Bellville CC) breaking about 20mins abd they stayed away till the end with the rest of us slowing the bunch down for Lance. Faziel getting the better of Lance at the line. I personally finished top 10. The main event was up next with plus minus 55 riders starting. Theuns vd Bank(NU Water) breaking from the first lap, Stefan Ihlenfeldt(Focus) and one other rider later joining him for a few laps. Not exactly sure when they were caught but they were. A bit of chaos on the last corner of the last lap going up to the finish line, but one rider went down, the bunch scrambled and S.Ihlenfeldt emerged the winner 3metres behind was JC. Jantjies(Spartans CC) and in 3rd was D.Daniels(MCC). Good, tough racing, nice turn out . Special thank to Peter Wheeler for sponsoring a nice cash spot prize. Heres afew pics of the CAT1/2 racing. More pic will be uploaded onto Facebook later.

Nice pics and well done to all the organizers involved in making this winter league possible - next step is to do the same in summer - racing with respectable prize money! The R200 a race win at PPA events is really showing the die hard racing guys (even wanting to race in conditions like today) zero respect.

Really amazing to see the attendance in the heart of winter.

Super stuff, roadies!

If you look at the first picture it looks like a nice day in Spring

Next week is Gunners Grand Prix , Gunners Circle, Epping on Sunday 16 June. this is the last event where riders can score points in the Winter Series. i am confident that i can pay prize money out to the 1st five teams in Cat 1 & 2 and Cat 3 as well as to the winner of the all rounders category. unlike other bodies in the western cape, the WPCA doesn't support any charity so all monies collected from entry fees less expenses will be paid out in prize money to the cyclists.

This weekend is the last event counting towards the points competition in the Winter Series.

Cat 1 & 2 is being closely contested while in Cat 3, City CC have sewn up the competition but the fight for the minor places might see a few clubs swopping places.

Please note that we are starting at 10am as we are of the opinion that the circuit would be much quieter at this time of the morning.
