Also did the 35km. Nice fast, well marked route and the quad bike showed us the way the whole way around. Only problem was that we couldn't seem to find any beers afterwards.

Thanks for the support guys, we are looking at making it bigger and better next year.

Clay, the sale of beer can be a legal nightmare, but we'll remedy that for the next edition.

So after my ranting I ended up NOT doing this race. I figured you'd need the money more than i needed to do the race.

Actually i was too broken after the Nissan #2 yesterday

But i was checking the results of some riders comparing them to the March results, then noted the size of the field compared to March

35km

March - 284 riders

Today - 76 riders incl the 3 DNF's

60km

March - 136 riders

Today - 39 riders

wonder why the big reduction in support, because this is such a lekka event.

Maybe the weather?

Maybe the Nissan yesterday?

Maybe lots of riders decided to go to church today?

mmmm trying to think of other reasons!!!

Think those results are incomplete. Maybe they have only included people with "Championchip" chips. I am not included in their results (and had no chip). There were definitely more than 115 riders there. Will follow up with Finishline cycles......

Well had a rant regarding this allready. On their entry forms in the shop the ladies only made us fill in the back page, where no mention of a champion chip were made of... Entered 6 people in total and guess what - no times !!!!

Could have just made an option on the entry form at the back where you can tick and buy a chip or could have just get the girls at the shop to say -- listen do you have a chip or not ?? for R190 you would at least expect to be timed then !!

Got a response from FinishLine they say that I must speak to Championchip, to whom I have now sent an email. Have a feeling this is going nowhere.

Surely there should be some sort of reconciliation between people and the results.

I saw it was timed by championchip but couldn't find my chip thingy so popped into Tony Impy and bought another ....hence my rant about winning time, champion chip, SAS etc last week!

My only issue is with Finish line as they did not make anybody aware of the fact in the shop when we entered.

Enjoyed the race, but they making them self look bad with the small amounts of people on the results.

Well CC did the timing and CC did the online entries, this was a huge point of discussion in another post where we all ranted and i posted responses from both Finishline and CC, Don't want to open up that line of discussion again.

But I can gaurantee you that if you had no chip you will have no official time.

I only hope that Finishline get to grips with this event next year because it's a great ride. Maybe flat for the climbers but lekka fast. I would hate to see it disappear.

I wouldn't begrudge Finishline, they hosted the event in March and its was a success so why now the failure.

The only change i noted was Championchip - go figure

Champion Chip was one of the first timing companies I remember so it has been around for yonks, but I admit it doesn't do much mtb timing lately. Perhaps Champion Chip should look at ensuring it has transponders on sale at entry/number collection points because a lot of newbies have probably never heard of Champion Chip.

Agreed, as I only started cycling last year and have thus far purchased the Racetec chip, which were used for 94.7 MTB challenge and also the SAS board with Chip, that is used in the Nissan Trailseeker events.

I am happy to purchase a Champion Chip, just were not informed of this, and as I did the race in March at Dunblane, I paid as I did now and my time were official back then.

Don't waste your money on a Champion Chip, they don't time many cycle events. I've had mine for many years and only needed it on about 5 occasions. Go check out their website for the events they do, you'll see its mainly running events.
