HI all

I'm converting an SLX triple crank on my 2012 Reign to 1x10 with a Csixx guide. I've stripped the crank and removed the granny and big chainrings.

Got the ISCG adapter for the chain guide on, mounted the chain guide and remaining (middle 32T) chainring is rubbing against the chain guide. Chain guide is adjustable for 32T to 42T chain rings, so it's not that the chain ring diameter is too big - rather it looks like there just isn't enough space between the chain ring and the guide laterally (if that makes sense?).

The idea I have, is to move the 32T chainring to the outside of the mounting holes on the crank, basically mount the 32T where the outer ring used to be and creating some clearance on the inside so the chainring doesn't rub the guide

Question: will this work? And where in JHB can I find the narrow chain ring bolts (used for single speed) - it seems singlespeed.co.za is not going anymore

Had the same problem on my Morewood with the Csixx guide.

Can you change the position of the chainguide? Where in JHB are you?

Which side of the chainring is rubbing?

If it's the inside then check your BB spacing. If you have a 68/73mm BB then move the spacer onto the drive side,

If it's the outside of the chainring that is rubbing, then install the spacers/washers supplied with the guide that go between your adapter/ISCG tabs and the base plate of the guide itself.

Also check that you have the adapter flipped the correct way. The countersunk side (as pictured below) should be facing inwards. The flat side outwards.

Between all these spacing options there should be no need to mount your chainring on the wrong side of the crank spider.

As for the narrow chainring bolts, the SS fraternity is big enough so most shops should have. Alternatively use derailleur hanger bolts (they're the same thing).

Thanks, does that number still work? Tried it a few times but only voicemail

I can rotate the guide about 20degrees which does not help at all.

Which side of the chainring is rubbing? - the inside

If it's the inside then check your BB spacing. If you have a 68/73mm BB then move the spacer onto the drive side, - press fit BB on a Giant Reign 1 2012 - no spacer currently, can I fit one?

If it's the outside of the chainring that is rubbing, then install the spacers/washers supplied with the guide that go between your adapter/ISCG tabs and the base plate of the guide itself.

Also check that you have the adapter flipped the correct way. The countersunk side (as pictured below) should be facing inwards. The flat side outwards. - Got that correct, if it is the wrong way round the holes don't line up

Between all these spacing options there should be no need to mount your chainring on the wrong side of the crank spider. - After filing down the top of the adapter (to avoid interference with the bottom suspension link) I suspect that the adapter is still too thick, i.e. pushing the chain guide too far to the outside/driveside

As for the narrow chainring bolts, the SS fraternity is big enough so most shops should have. Alternatively use derailleur hanger bolts (they're the same thing). - Thanks for this tip, will try get some from my LBS
