I hate to tell you but your previous owner was absolutely right. Nothing should go on the freehub body. There are no seizing issues there at all. None. Never.

 

What you think is seize is actually spline bite. That's when the cassette cuts into the freehub body (if it is made of alu). No amount of copperslip will prevent that.

 

It is awful to work on bikes where everything that needn't be greased, is greased.

But the copper slip definitely makes it easier to work the cassette over the gouges on the alu, of that fact I am certain.

So from that perspective it is worthy and useful application of copper slip.

 

Copper slip is wondrous stuff, I have stripped things my father rebuilt 30yrs ago and what a pleasure to loosen nuts and bolts that had copper slip applied.

why would u want orange when u can have gold :drool:

 

Oh I know Hopes come in gold ;)

 

But I also know that Sidewinder has orange bling on his new steed and has been lusting after Chris King hubs which do come in orange. :lol:

Realized the hope hubs are good for anti theft, no one will be wheeling your bike off behind your back without you hearing it....
