One other suggestion... before you start, adjust your calliper mounting so that it is off centre, so that the kink on the disc scrapes substantially on the pad. This makes it easier to track your progress. If you leave it central, you have to judge by eye whether you've moved it enough... or in the right direction.

Sorry, forgot, for this to work, the pads have to be removed, and you use the calliper body to be your fixed reference point.

tried truing the rotor last night. didn't achieve much without the proper tools. so then i placed it on the stove. That helped a bit. but the whole disc is mangled. more than one place where it is bent up and or down. so i'm gonna have to buy a new one. but that got me thinking why did it bend in the first place?

so yeah i grabbed a hand full of front brake, leaned back and the wheel didn't lock up. so lots of force on the front. but will it not happen to my next rotor as well? and some might say just don't brake that hard again but then i'm sorry whats the point of strong brakes? maybe it was just a cheap crappy rotor?

any comments?

Man, I can't see that just braking can bend a disk - unless it's worn really thin? I know on cars disk warping can be caused by a hard stop and then keeping the brakes on - something to do with cooling differentials or something.

You didn't whang it against rocks or something?

Edit: Disclaimer: I'm no expert.

no rocks  but now that you mention it it might be worn thin, coz i've had it for probably 3 years now? and i like endos and all that jazz... is 3 years life out of a rotor good or bad?

Not sure about the ware on the disk

Most disks warp when you have been riding hard and they are hot, then one you stop for your mates to catch up. If you stand still for a while without the wheels turning the disk cools BARRING the spot between the callipers that is not exposed to the surrounding cool air and warps.
