Sure are. At least four riders from Jozi, including arguably our two finest ultradistance lady cyclists: Michelle Gahan and Gillian Critcher. One or two from Cape Town. One Hubber, Walkerr?

Yup, Walkerr and Hopefield are cycling.

London-Edinburgh-London is Britain's longest and toughest cycling event, taking place as it does over 1400km. Audax rules apply, so riders have a maximum time of 116h40 and a minimum time of 46h40 to finish. The event is unsupported.

Latest updates: Critcher and Gahan covered 325km in 13h15 reaching the Pocklington checkpoint at 2315 GMT last night. Cox and Cox covered the same distance in 13h24.

Thanks, Ostrich. Do you know their race numbers? Following the Jozi riders on the LEL site.

I don't know what Walkerr's number is. Hopefield is D53, with an average of 20km/h for the first 400km.

How are the other Joburgers doing?

Guys got into Thirsk, 400km mark, between 7:25 and 8:58 this morning, averaging roughly 16.5 to 17km/h. Probably slept for a bit last night.

Hijack on...

How was the 200 km ride yesterday?

Hijack off..

20 riders set off. Cruised for most of it in a two man group. Wind and Impala/Butcher's was a nasty sting in the tail.

on my list for next year, as I could just not get the training in!

Hopefield got to Moffat at 1900 GMT, 620km in and 80km from halfway mark in Edinburgh. Critcher and Gahan about two hours behind. Cox and Cox en route to Moffat.

Our brave Randonneurs are now back in England. They've been on the road for 72 hours, are now doing between 13 and 15 km/h, and have ridden between 850 and 1000km.

The pace seems to have slowed but they have some hours in the bag so it's fine. I guess that last 400km or so are going to hurt, unless everything is numb...

Day 5 of LEL.

Gray was last seen at Market Rasen, 1195km, last night at 2000. 205km from London.

Critcher and Gahan got to Market Rasen at 1925 last night.

Hopefield got to Kirton, 1219km last night at 2226GMT

Walkerr got to Market Rasen at 2338 last night.

With less than 200km and a day to do it in, they should all finish. After four days and 1200km, its taking them over 8 hours to do a 100km. Vasbyt, my friends. Almost done!
