Back, neck and headache problem

Recommended Posts

Hi the Ghost,

I am no doctor but have been through something similar with my wife,

if your neck is in spasms, you should be careful as this can create serious problems.

the headaches can be caused by this.

My wife had similar issues with headaches which were caused by her neck,

she never realised it was her neck because her head hurt so much.

She ended up having a small stroke and had many procedures done to help correct this.

Many years later and she doesn't suffer any more.

I would see a neurologist and seek a biokineticist to train your weak points.

Stronger muscles assist weaker body parts and if you are doing mtbike rides, the jolts may just be the main cause with weak muscles in the affected parts.

Try and get an appointment with Dr Maurizo Zorio at Milpark (if you're in Jhb area). Best Neuro around AND he is a keen cyclist!

I think it's time to find this one.... get ready to spend some money - my money is on a vascular abnormality that shows up when exercising - might want to find a good vascular guy too... and a good radiologist....

Sounds interesting V12man, the only problem is that it isn't limited to when I exercise.

Ill try and remember to update here as I go.

I checked this guy out and he seems good enough, but He only has appointments for March next year, when I tried to indicate I needed a little more urgency as has been suggested, I was told he is away for 2 weeks.

Anybody able to recommend another top notch neuro? V12man?

Most of them are damn good,

my wife has been to a few and all came to the same or very similar conclusion.

I will try find out who they were as it was 8 years ago.

  • 2 weeks later...

How old are you? What job do you do? When did this start? Can you remember a specific event? What brings on the headache? How often? What medication you on? High blood pressure? X-rays?

Might be able to direct you in the right direction. Your problems can be nerve, blood vessel, muscle or joint related so it's kinda key to determine what may be the problem and what specialist you need to see.
