So I am down in Durbs for the week from 'THE BIG SMOKE' and rode at Giba Gorge this morning... What an awesome place to ride, friendly people, no attitude, no issues.

I had a little over the bars moment and now have a couple 'Giba tattoo's' for my collection but its all good.

You durbanites and KZN peeps are super lucky to have the trails you have.

I started my Mtb'ing at Giba 5 years ago and one of the best spots in SA. I moved upto Jhb nearly 4 years ago and miss Giba all the time. I bought a lot of land there but what an awesome spot!!

Giba is about 50km away from me...but believe it or not, I have never ridden there...There is no real need as I have hilton/cascades/howick/karkloof/Worlds View/midlands all within 0 to 30km

Prob going up there next month for work for a full week.

Must see if I can organize a bike and some time off one afternoon.

.

Giba has some decent entry level bikes for hire at R180 for 3 hours.

Grant, if you find yourself up the North Coast you should give Holla Trails-Ballito a 'burn' as well. We're proper spoilt to have two awesome facilities servicing two very popular areas of KZN.

Enjoy our winter Bud!!! 25deg........gotta love it!!!

I've been riding Giba for a while now - Love the place.

Those switchbacks are a killer!

Go there almost weekly now - I'm about to buy a pass

I'm going to Holla this Thursday just to try out the different terrain.

That's not bad.

Please define "decent" and "entry level" if possible

The are hardtails with disc brakes (probably mechanical). I saw mostly Axiz frames. Decent for an outing.

I miss all the riding in Kzn. Karlkloof, Pmb area is really awesome too, world class!!. Holla is fantastic by Jhb standards and is a great place to get in proper distance training with a bit of fun but i don't think it offers as much thrill factor as Giba and Pmb trails although in fairness, i have ridden their in 18 months. As awesome as the winters are in Dbn, i don't miss the summers and Jhb takes that award hands down!!

I enjoy Giba and ride there most weekends. I have just signed up for a membership.

Decent well structured trails which offer a thrill every time. I never seem to get bored.

I also prefer riding Giba with decent flat pedals. I have much more confidence and enjoy the trails a whole lot more.

Giba is the bomb. They do a lot to maintain and keep the trails in tip top condition, so riding is always a pleasure.

Always adding as well. There is a new section being cut from the start of Shaya Moya that will link up to under the bridge that goes up to the nursery. Will be very cool when finished and adds more options.
