So I'm going to Zimbali lodge next week with the Mrs. in KZN.

As im racing 2 weeks later, and want some saddle time, I googled MTB trails in and around and found Hollatrails.

I provisionally booked a bike and a session there. Intend spending 3 hours of the morning.

Any tips, advice on which trails, and what to expect?

Looking at doing around 40kms.

There is quite an extensive option list of trails. Wouldnt mind Jeep track with some single track in between.

I will be renting a bike, they have 26 and 29ers.

Its a fantastic place to ride. You'll probably choose to do the yellow trail as its about 45km long. I was there in December and the signage was not the best. There are a few other trails, all of which are great. I think its red that is really popular. You may want to include this as a loop. The guys running the show there are really helpful, so if you just chat to them they will point you in the right direction. Please let me know if the yellow signage is better now.

Hey all

Thanks for the response! really helpful,

I reckon Im at low to medium fitness. Only 2 weeks back on the saddle since I spent most of July, early August fasting.

i will have a look at the yellow trail.

@tombeej, thanks for the offer, I might take you up on that :P Though I wouldnt want to keep you back, as I mentioned above, Im training to get back into things. Unless you up for a leisurely cruise :whistling:

Leisurely cruise is good for me too. Social rides are exactly that - social. Better yet, leave your GPS unit/watch at home and we just ride for the sake of riding. No deadlines, no rules, no expectations, no pressure. How it should be :).

I'll also be in Balito next week and I want to hit the Holla Trails on one of the days if anyone is keen to ride in the morning during the week. I'm pretty fit and looking for a decent ride if anyone is interested. Please let me know or PM me.

Tombeej and I went today. Did 43km of the yellow trail.

Was awesome, highly recommend it.

I am unfit and just started training, but ended up a great workout too.

Thx Tom, keen to come back to Holla and do black
