  1. Swift Carbon Attack 2014 Been upgrading bit by bit for the past 2 years Zipp Bars Ritchey Saddle Ritchey carbon seatpost Dura Ace 7900 groupset Easton EC90 SL crankset with Power American Classic Argent wheels with Zipp Tires (need some carbon wheels, funds welcome)
  2. Selfie sort of Team kit launch photo softbox rim lighting and bare octa main, all speedlights. Handed camera to team mate for my shot. taken in a spray booth.
  3. It took me over a minute to get out of the start shute, but as you pre-tagg, your race starts at XX:XX irrespective what time you cross the start line. A minute is a minute
  4. Did the 42km last year, had a blast, did the 50km this year (roadie route). Enjoyed it as much as I decided to TT it. pity about the single lane climb (with the switchbacks) and all the families on the route towards the end. It is public pathways either way so all good.
  5. Jeez. Amazing story, thanks for sharing. Kinda scaring the crap out of me at the same time. Nearly a daily basis that you hear of an incident. I commute twice week and ride weekends. You just think it wont happen to you, can keep on riding. I would say ride safe out there, but 9/10 times its not how safe you ride, its how well the cars around you drive.
  6. Looks to be around R11k. But ill give you R14k so you score
  7. Mine used the One tonner. Seems they took the penalty away for both racetec and cycle tour seeding. Identical between the two.
  8. My Index is 12... go figure. either way babse. Elite aged, Index of 5. Why start you after us toppies with 10+ index
  9. Definately not. There's riders few years younger and older than me riding in @ that finished in the & bunch in SCT... Probably just Racetec voodoo. At least if I lose my group, i wont have to wait long for & to pick me up... then drop me.. hahahaa
  10. If it was clinchers, i would make this thread dissapear
  11. & for me... Why did racetec put @ after & ? @ riders are faster and were basically $ in burger. Whereas i was % in burger
  12. Got claim approved within the same day, value of a full set of ea90SLX as last listed, so quite stoked. Around the R15k mark, trying to see what wheelsets I should get. - Must be light, Im used to light wheels - Cant have sections, because cape town wind - Will be used for funrides, commuting and sunday rides, cant be raceday specials. One option is the AC Argent, comes in just under 1.4kg with change left over.
  13. Im not sure when it happened. I had the bike inspected after I crashed... thats when i picked it up, and thats what I said. Ill wait and see.
  14. Apparently there is a distributor. Hullabaloo or something. The crack worsened, seems to be two coming from the spoke now.... I did a 114km ride yesterday. probably silly of me but now i know for sure its a no-go.
  15. Hi Hub I had a very slow and "small fall" yesterday taking the small circle in hout bay in some damp yesterday. I took my bike to Swift to straighten my right leaver, give the bike a once over and a minor service. He said its probably not related, but there is a fine crack from one of the rear spokes. It could have been there for a while. Logic says it must be replaced. The bike is insured, but Easton does not distribute here, so might need to be a full wheelset claim. I estimate the retail around R16-17k (crazy prices last time easton's like those where available). 1) How risky is it to ride on the rim. I weigh 64kg, the wheels have about 19000kms on them. Never needed any maintenance other than a single hub bearing change. 2) What would be a viable replacement. Preferably climbing wheels. Not interested in deepish sections as I already struggle in cape town cross wins. 3) They have stock of a set of EA90 SL's. I could grab that back wheel. Thanks in advanced for any opinions/suggestions. N
  16. The defence is real up in here 1. The customer is always right, even when they not. I also worked retail, bla bla bla. Deal with them right, then swear and joke behind their back rather like a normal person. 2. Its reallly stupid to say "shop elsewhere" on social media, especially with no context 3. This general attitude of putting down people that take on hub favourites is alienating 4. I had a really bad experience at CWC, particularly the service department. Everyone has their off days. I still choose to use them with their good specials, but never for anything else
  17. Sjoe, really is little point taking CWC on on thehub. Right or wrong. If it was any other retailer?
  18. Yep, happened to me. My One Tonner result from 1D has a better beta than finishing with main bunch in %
  19. I rode in % .. first time im in a group thats a symbol. I managed to ride with the main/front % all the way to the end, but was way too afraid to get mixed up in the sprint zone, that and my legs wouldnt oblidge. Was generally event free for us, other than naughty riders who crossed the line. no crashes really. Finished 2:32
  20. They not doing that either. its a pricey race with loads of entries. I fail to see where it goes. Besides, i rely on those bottles, I only use bottles from Argus/DC/SCT
  21. Whats up with the special treatment for CWC? If its another LBS i doubt a similar reaction would have been posted (unless its a spez store of course... just kidding ) ... Either way, no way it looks normal. my Easton's has 16 000 kms and its only damage is me being useless with a leaver or scratching it when loading my bike. Their response does not seem adequate.
  22. Yes, quite a few Pure Savage okes in D. some stopped at riebeek, some didnt, You okes rode lekker, thanks
