I did the route from the other side on Saturday but did not do all of it. Turned back to PTA from Cullinan as I got away a bit late. So only got to 83 odd km. But with the wind pumping straight into me from there it was a good training ride. I only managed 24.1km/h average though, which was a bit disappointing.

Riaan, let's organise that group ride please.

How about Saturday, 31 Aug? Can we try and keep it around 80 kms, just for time sake? Or what sort of mileage are we looking at?

It won't be at a 24km/h average though. Closer to 20...

This is the one you want!!! It is majority MTB and you are more than welcome to cut the part out north of Cullinan by taking the tar road. This is not my activity so I can't give you the GPX file.

Cutting that top section out would make it a 100km loop from Lynnwood Bridge.

31st sounds good ... I dunno, how far / long do you want to go? 4 hours? Some of those roads can be murder, 20km/h avg might be a stretch sometimes (depends on sand and corrugations and rain)

HelpMyTrap you're welcome to join, but I'm loading bricks in your camelbak and tying a tractor tire to your bike ... that'll even it out a little lol :D

Cool stuff, thanks man!! Very similar to what I did last weekend.

I might also join you guys on 31st. Keep me updated here and we'll see how things pan out.

Start time depends on starting point lol. I ride from Queenswood, so if it's from there we can leave at 06:00.

What do you guys want to hit?

Pienaars singetrack

Avondzon

Pienaars Poort

Rayton

Cullinan

Kameelfontein

Roodeplaat

???

I'm in Faerie Glen. Do you go through the Lynnwood/Silver Lakes/Boschkop area at all? Then I can meet you en route somewhere. Otherwise I can come through to Queenswood. No worries.

Look, you know all the good spots. I'm just a little pressed for time and need to be back home around 11. (11:30 at a push) In my mind Roodeplaat, Kameelfontein, Cullinan, etc seems far and there and back sounds like more than a 4 hour ride, but maybe that's just me. :P That being said, if we start at 6 we have a bit more time.

So, you know the trails. Happy if you decide where to ride.

Mmmm ok pressed for time ... lemme see.

I'll ride through to FG / Silver Fakes somewhere.

Maybe we should hit the river tracks, then Rosemary Hill / Boschkop rather? That would make it quite a bit shorter. Then we organize a whole-day expedition through Culinan, Roodeplaat etc - maybe do 100 - 120km then?

I'm just a little east of you Squire in Pretorius Park. So if I do go we can meet up somewhere along the way to Queesnwood (if we meet up there.)

Sorry about that. I just wont be able to do 120km on Saturday. I dont want to screw up your whole ride now. If you guys want to do the long ride, please go ahead, but we'll have to do the long ride again sometime soon though, before Magalies Adventure.

If we start before 7 I should be able to fit in about 80km. Have a chat and let me know. Still keen to see those river singletracks.

Helmytrap, I'm worried about riding with you. I distinctly remember your comments on your training load on the sani2c thread and remember starting to cramp just thinking about it! :P

How about this, I'll only use half of my wheels on the ride, the back one... I should be much slower then. :whistling:
