Scott or GT

I'm trying to choose between the Scott Spark 940 and the GT Sensor 9R Pro.

Scott: http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/227690007/bike-spark-940-m/

GT: http://www.gtbicycles.co.za/2013/bikes/mtb/dual-suspension/Sensor_9R_Pro/

I can get them both for the same price.

I like the Scott for the handlebar lockout, but I think the GT has the better specs.

Any advice/experience with either bikes?

Two entirely different bikes, the GT leans more toward trail and Enduro and the Scott more toward XC & marathon type riding.

Decide whether you want a 100mm or 120mm travel, once you have decided that, then the bike choice is automatic. The type of riding you prefer should be your starting point in terms of the decision making process.

GT has the better spec, formula brakes, FIT damper on the fork, the Scott however has better cranks. The GT's finishing kit in my opinion is superior to the Scott.

Unfortunately both are 29ers, why don't you look at some 27,5" alternatives? Apparently best of both worlds!
