It was without a doubt the worst windy conditions i've ever experienced (maybe i'm not too experienced then :-)) Boy was it a cold and windy start, with my fingers going numb from the cold and even gearing became a challenge.

The winning time for AL was just over 3hours... mine was 3:23 as the wind took it's toll on me unfortunately... Like you guys said... the pancakes from the church tannies was an absolute blessing after the race.

Results were available yesterday.

About 13 or so guys broke away from the A bunch after about 30kms, and that's where I dropped with a few others. A few of us joined up with a couple of VB riders and rode the rest of the way, we picked up a few of the guys who fell off the leading A bunch and a few others along the way, it was a hard ride from about 55kms!!

Managed to finish in the second A bunch with 3:16. From what I can see there were only 6 riders left in the front A bunch, so well done to the guys who won the A bunch, they put 15mins into us!!

So similar to what we had. Show that means we finished about 20 minutes behind the leaders, and probably the 3rd a bunch sigh. These legs need more training to keep up.

I was riding the red and black ghost with the evad rims. Wearing a red jacket. I strugled the first 50 km, was laggin behind the guys the entire race. Only managed to put in some leading time in the last 30 km.

I think I lost them when that guy with the red shoes attacked, I just sprinted and stuck on his wheel. When I looked behind me saw only one of the VB guys followed and it was just the 3 of us, with the guy constantly attacking and then slowing down, was so irritating

Was with you guys ealy one in the AL bunch. 8 guys were left by the time we turned onto the Delmas Rd, + two that we picked up. I went with the read haired guy with the Cervelo with 40 km yo go and we managed a 3:01. Boy that wind was strong.

And I felt the effort yesterday at the Dome 2 Dome!!

Did you still do the D2D as well?

I was out with a few mates doing a training ride in the cradle yesterday. We went the oposite direction of the D2D race and saw all the bunches coming past. Also saw a lot of guys repairing punctures.

I must say the conditions were a lot better yesterday than what it was on Saturday in Benoni.... sho!

Training for the upcoming 3 Towers, and I need those racing miles. The start of the D2D was just as cold, but the wind was much better, still rode much slower than last year. Lots of glass on the road!!
