Scott: Scale 960 or Aspect 910?

Hi Guys

I need some help deciding between these two bikes.

I can get both the bikes for about R 12000. Both bikes are pretty similarly specced with the only major difference being the frames. The geometry of the scale is said to be more raced focused with the geometry of the aspect more focused on entry level riders.(Please correct me if this is incorrect)

This is my first mountain bike but I do not want to buy something that I will quickly outgrow. I am having trouble deciding between the two because of the geometry and associated rider comfort levels. I do not want to buy the scale and then regret it, due to the discomfort caused by the more race focused geometry. So I am thinking maybe I should go for the Aspect instead?

What do you guys think? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

decide on the type of riding you will be doing, then make sure whichever one you get - get the right size and have it properly set up!!!

For recreation or racing IMO, the scale is better for men and the Aspect for ladies. I have a scale and enjoy it, my wife rides an aspect and likes the geometry. Girls have shorter upper bodies so the compact cockpit helps. Her bike is now full XT with a Fox up front and works perfectly riding a half-marathon on Saturday and family trails on Sunday.

I would say Scale. You can do family rides and races on it. If the setup is correct it is a very comfortable ride. May also be easier to offload when you want to sell/upgrade.

Consider the Momsen AL329, great frame and its cheaper. Components might not be as good as the Scott but the bike is very upgradable in my opinion. Worth a look
