1. Create route

2. Import / export to google earth

3. Navigate on pre-loaded route

+1...who knew, still don't think it will give turn by turn directions, but cool functionality none the less

New to the forum, I'm Ray.

 

Not sure if it is exactly what you looking for, but I use the mountain bike version of Runtastic app for iPhone. You can plot your own routes online or create a route from a previously ridden route. This then automatically uploads to the app. When you use this route it creates a grey line on the map on the app which you then follow, it unfortunately does not give voice turn by turn, you kinda have to keep an eye on the dot the represents you and where along the course you are.

 

The image is from me seconding my wife in the CPT marathon yesterday, you can see where I went off route.

 

This works the same off road.

Not to detract from the OP's request but others will be looking here so here goes:

Step 1: Sell/give away your iPhone....

Step 2: Get an Android phone

Step 3: Look for OruxMaps...not on Google Play, just google for it....it is the best GPS map tracker. Import routes, export to a few well known apps, track-up capability, maps rotate, can use off-line maps so no need for GPRS signal, as well as a select of other on-line maps! U/I needs a bit of work but its a great app and you can also integrate 3D data into it. New version support HRM's.
