To those saying he shudnt have ridden there, it's a bit unfair.

Its not like there's trouble every day or every week. It's a main road route and a well-established cycle route.

We shouldn't have to change our lives for all of the notices we get of crime.

I think using that route is an acceptable risk - like the wildebeeste migration crossing the river with crocs in it.

There'll be a couple of casualties out of the thousands but it has to be done.

Hi guys, a mate and I went cycling this morning past that dreaded kempton park hot spot. Please be careful out there as they pulled guns on us and took phones etc, luckily some passing traffic chased them away and managed to get bikes back.

To the taxi, the gentleman in his whit dbl cab and the gautrain bus driver, thank you. We owe you!! South Africa needs more of you guys out there and less of these knobs trying to take what's not theirs.

Be safe

Hi

We ride that section everyday, could provide the exact location and time. Thanks be be safe

We have a problem with bicycles being stolen at the local primary school in the week before the school closed. Kids stealing the bikes for a guy in the township who strips the bicycles from all stickers within a few minutes. We are living in a small town and the kids started cycling to school and now this. We hate it when we have to change our way of life because of crime.

Joe Lowe and Down Under - have to agree with your comments.

While there are undoubtedly problems from time to time, and from place to place, being observant and avoiding particular places at dodgy times must limit the exposure.

But thanks to those less fortunate who pass on the heads' ups after unfortunate incidents!!

Trust me boys, I ride observantly 5 x a week but when 3 guys jump out at you Looking like commuters then pulling a gun out pointing it at you and ...... Not much more you can do. I've been riding that route for many a year and never a days issue! We went through there at a about 520am coming up from atlas road, probably a 100m on the left.. trust me find another route, you or your family don't need this ****! I have my director riding with me on a Tuesday/Thursday and on weekends riding with a gun and mace.. What has this country come to?? Crazy to think that we should sit back and say phewww we lucky to be alive!

Now what would it take for the police, to organise 2 of the meanest f***ers to go riding in that area,

and when they get jacked, the culprits will get the lesson they deserve ???????

Is it too complicated or difficult to organise ???????

Riding with a gun? You think you will have enough time to pull out your firearm as a means of protection against criminals? If you dont have time, they might use the gun on you or take it from you and use it for another crime.

Anyone who rides with a gun has never had the pleasure of being hijacked. The bastwids do not have "I'm a hijacker" signs. They simply step off the pavement pointing a gun when you get to them - they do not even have to chase you!!

You will not have time to use your guns, knives, mace or any other weapon you have.. unless of course you're part of a group of 10 or so.
