Trek mtb bike, worth the effort?

Hi I have an old trek 800, with stock parts on it, maybe the bar ends are new.

 

I know the front mech shifters tension drum which you adjust has snapped off, otherwise ok.

 

There is no front shock.

 

Do you guys think it's worth putting money into this bike to be able to do a little mtb, or bike for wife.
