Close to home being 2km from my door step.

I assume that the 2 incidents were solo riders?

The one from Tuesday afternoon was a solo rider.

I've ridden there alone tons and tons of times - with vehicles being on that road it's always been safe.

It's a whole 1km section of road where they can wait for you at any point without you seeing them, or suspecting that a specific person might have it in for you.

And there is plenty of bush for them to disappear into. Cant the police organize a sting operation in that squatter camp. It's not that big YET (according to Google maps).

In my dreams I guess

SAPS raided the squatter camp about 6 weeks ago.

Not that big yet? Haha. There's over 900 houses there.

 that's quite a bit bigger than the last time I went past there when we lived in the area. That time there were like 20 houses there and was mostly construction workers from the area.

I can just imagine what effect it has on the local property market.

Every couple of weeks the Rekord newspaper has some article on how the Tshwane municipality is in contempt of court. The courts have apparently ordered the municipality to relocate these people. As usual nothing happens!!

I guess they would demand that the municipality give them rdp housing before they will be willing to move and 900+ (growing by the day) rdp housing won't happen quickly if ever. They can't even supply the townships with that amount of housing.

Jeese, seriously! Something has to be done!! Twice in two weeks!! Not on!! What time did this happen?

Not twice in two weeks. Twice in two days. Well 3.

Tuesday's was at around 5pm, so rush-hour for that area.

This morning's would have been at around 6-7am perhaps? There's a lot of cyclists in that area in the mornings :/

This morning my mtb was almost taken on Garsfontein between woodlands shopping centre and Matt street (mooikloof), shots fired aswell !! PTA EAST

Sorry you had to experience that - glad that you were not hurt.

A mate and I ride in that area every week and this is a lot of BS. These oxygen thieves are impacting on how we live our lives and they need to feel some push back. If there was a court ruling that the squatters need to be relocated we have to put additional pressure on the authorities to make that happen. Can we get some kind of community policing going on with police reservists?

The old saying is that evil prevails when good men do nothing - I'm tired of doing nothing and I will be happy to contribute to and participate in any kind of initiative that addresses this situation in a decisive way.

I will try speak to the station manager at Garsfontein today.

As to reservists, they all work full-time so they're usually only available on Friday evenings and weekends.

Moving to pta east in 2 weeks.

(Mental note made not to ride that part of Garsfontein road)

It's always been safe

Now it's not. And it's only one of three entry points to that area, and if that section is unsafe, then the jeeptrack next to Mooikloof is going to be taboo too, which leaves one entry and exit point (Zwavelpoort).
